SWISS APPLE PIE

 

 

Swiss Apple Pie

Oven at 350 degrees

Butter a pie plate on all sides and bottom. Fill the pie plate only 2/3 full with a mixture of sliced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar; enough to coat. Be sure NOT to FILL the pie plate as the apples will not cook all the way. Set aside.

In a saucepan, melt 1 ½ sticks of butter. Once melted, mix in 1 cup sugar and 1 cup flour and mix together well over medium heat. Add a dash of salt. Take off heat and add one egg. Mix well until smooth. Continue to mix until it becomes a creamy consistency. Pour mixture over apples.

Bake for at least 45 minutes or until a rich golden brown. Be sure the middle has cooked all the way.
