A note from Nilda, our first Translator, with some of her IANTN memories.

I do not remember the dates specifically but when I got there in June 1976, there was a CAT equivalent already operating, but cannot recall if it was named CAT. For sure it was already under the CAT name in 1977. We also had a training school. Maybe Ernie "Speedy" Gonsalves, who was in charge of the CAT, can shed some more light into this. When I was there the US Commander was the Secretary of the IANTN Secretariat, with a Latin American equivalent as Deputy Secretary, and three assistant secretaries, all LT grade, one from the US for operations and the other two for training and information were from Latin American IANTN member nations. The first Deputy Secretary, Commander Podesta from Peru, wrote the bylaws for the IANTN Secretariat.
The second was from Argentina, who was recalled to his country on account of the Falklands war with UK. I found some pictures, and will continue to search my files to see if I kept anything. Mind you this was almost 30 years ago.
Thanks so much, Nilda Fitzgerald
